It’s 2023, the start of a brand-new year and G-Mart Group has set the targets high after a record breaking 2022 for the entire automotive industry. January 2022 saw G-Mart Group entering a new realm with the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) into its portfolio. There has been no stopping since.

The journey began with the importation of a few units of Tesla Model 3 followed by Model Ys. The encouraging feedback from early adopters triggered G-Mart Group to ramp up procurement of EV especially Tesla models and by mid-2022, G-Mart Group held the largest inventory of Tesla cars in Malaysia.

By December 2022, the selection of EVs at G-Mart Group was extended to MG ZS EV, Nissan Leaf, Porsche Taycan, Mercedes EQ Class, Mustang Mach E and Volkswagen IDs. The large inventory of EVs at G-Mart Group also paved way for the G-Mart EV Center (GEVC) located in Bandar Baru Bangi. This exclusive EV sales and lifestyle center is the first of its kind in Malaysia. GEVC features 3 DC chargers and 6 AC chargers for the convenience of its customers and EV owners in the surrounding areas.

G-Mart Group has installed a total of 16 EV chargers across 6 locations in the Klang Valley where customers are entitled to free charging during operating hours. This year, G-Mart Group has planned to increase the number of chargers to 50 with prime locations in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Taiping, Sg. Petani, Alor Setar and Johor Bahru in the pipeline.

Powering through the EV landscape is no easy task as the after-sales warranty for these vehicles naturally is a point of great concern for buyers. The warranty dilemma was solved with the introduction of Warranty for Electric Cars by Apeg Warranty. Major items such as the high voltage battery, drive unit, control units and infotainment systems are covered under a custom designed warranty program.

Completing the EV ecosystem is G-Mart Group’s after sales service for EVs, Supreme Automotive Garage, a subsidiary of G-Mart Group took the bull by its horns tackling software and hardware glitches for various models. The latest tools and technical equipment have been incorporated at Supreme Automotive Garage along with the onboarding of technicians with electric and electronic expertise. Supreme has successfully resolved issues pertaining high/low voltage batteries, control units, mechanical systems, software solutions and even minor collision repairs.

Currently G-Mart Group has over 200 units of EVs readily available at several of its main showrooms across the Klang Valley, this is possibly the largest inventory of EVs in Malaysia to date and for 2023, G-Mart Group is focused in expanding into the EV segment with more models and variants, watch this space for the latest updates.
