THE ALL NEW AXIA 2023 BY G-MART GROUP

New stylish look, enhanced safety features, advanced technology and more space than ever before

The launch of order taking for the brand-new Axia D74A, which will be offered in four variations, was made public by Perodua earlier this morning. The local automaker also provided an estimate of the price of its upcoming model, in addition to the preliminary specifications that we had previously described in our initial post.

The G, which is estimated to retail for RM38,600 on the road without insurance, is the first model in the range. The X costs RM40,000, the SE costs RM44,000, and the range-extending AV costs RM49,500. A 1.0-liter engine and a D-CVT, which took the place of the previous four-speed automatic, power all variants.

The D74A is noticeably more expensive than the previous model, the Axia, which also had a 1.0-liter engine (a naturally aspirated three-cylinder) and a 4AT. For context, the previous model was available in six variations following the 2019 update: the “driving school-spec” 1.0 E MT (RM24,090), the “driving school-spec” 1.0 G AT (RM33,490), the “driving school-spec” 1.0 GXtra AT (RM34,990), the “SUV-inspired” 1.0 Style AT (RM38,890), the “SE AT” (RM38,890), and the “top-

Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, president and CEO of Perodua, says that the new Axia’s higher price is due to the larger size of the vehicle and the addition of more cutting-edge features than its predecessor.

“Compared to the current (car), the size of this model has increased for new prices, like our Axia. Additionally, the features differ. The Axia was previously basic and lacked ASA (Advanced Safety Assist). Up to six airbags, including curtain airbags, will be included in the new vehicle. Safety plays a crucial role. During a Q&A session that followed a press conference that was held today, he stated, “We want to make sure that as we grow, we include all of the safety features in our line-up.”

As a result, the price will be different than it was before because of the increased safety and specifications. “We increased the price of the new model not because of inflation or the cost of materials, but rather because we added additional features,” Zainal went on to say.

The Axia D74A is definitely a lot more advanced than it was before based on what we know so far. The AV comes standard with six airbags, a seven-inch TFT multi-information display, a nine-inch Display Audio head unit, LED headlamps and DRLs, and Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) with ASA. The AV has increased by RM6,310 (referring to the estimated price that has been provided) because of these high-end features and the larger vehicle size that was mentioned earlier.

Also, the Axia’s starting price has gone up a lot, from RM24k to RM39k, but only because the manual version has been dropped for the new launch. At RM3,610, the increase compared to the G, or more accurately the old GXtra, is relatively insignificant. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control were only available on the GXtra and up, but the new Axia will come standard with VSC, traction control, and hill start assist across the range.

When the Axia debuts, we will learn more about what else has changed, but for the time being, do you like what Perodua has created? Based on the given justifications, is the price increase justified?
